Vintage Space Travel Posters
From the genius (I think it’s safe to call him that) that brought us those awesome Star Wars travel posters, Steve Thomas, comes a collection of planetary vacation advertisements. Come to think of it, these may predate the Star Wars ones, but that’s not important right now.
Despite the scientific impossibility of the artwork (skiing on Pluto would be difficult with 8% of Earth’s gravity), they invite dreams of a manned era in solar system exploration that I think we can all support.
If you like Steve’s art, visit his store and purchase posters, iPhone cases or postcards of these works and many more.
“This is a man!!”
Thanks for clearing that up, Alex. These sketchbooks are a treasure trove of creativity, though.
This really IS cool. Look inside the sketchbooks of well-known graphic designers, street artists, scientists, advertisers, and artists. Some really interesting stuff here…

Let us create a powerful airship-building industry”
Design by Nikolai Dolgorukov, 1932.
Today’s “why-hasn’t-someone-made-this-before!?” great idea:
The Ribbon - a silicone modular band that can be bent to any shape to form a baking pan with the Teflon baking sheet to which it magnetically attaches.
Bar Stool S5 designed using bent veneer. Because of a specific fastening of details it has a spacious niche, where you can put your bag, while sitting in a bar.
Designer: Mikhail Belyaev
bubble wrap calendar.
I don’t know how practical this would really be, but yeah, I’m definitely getting one…

I LOVE this! What a great, simple idea ( ie great design).
The Sorapot by Joey Roth is the teapot equivalent of Philip Johnson’s Glass House – a simple and striking shell that exposes the beauty of its inside. The pot is made of a stainless steel arc handle that spans a Pyrex cylinder, and watching the tealeaves unfurl in the water as they steep is as enjoyable as drinking the Sorapot’s perfectly brewed cuppa.
